Union Processing Systems is committed to providing the very best in service and the assurance your waste is being handled the way you expect. Contact Union Processing Systems to discover how we can meet your non-hazardous wastewater disposal needs in an environmentally responsible manner.
Our surface facility construction exceeds the standards for liquid waste storage. In addition to the concrete secondary containment system for the tank storage area, the entire footprint of the operational area of the plant is underlain by a layer of gravel above a HDPE plastic liner. This french drain system allows us to monitor the interstitial layer for leaks in the overlying secondary containment system- as unlikely as that might be - and the ability to pump any accumulated water. All piping from the process area to the wellhead are above-ground and double-cased so that any water leaving the primary pipe is returned to the process area. All major components of the surface facility have a backup redundancy ensuring reliability of our services.

Why Injection Wells
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says “Class 1 underground injection wells are safer than virtually all other waste disposal practices” [EPA report No. 570/9-91-031]. A wide variety of industries throughout the United States now depend on Class 1 disposal wells for the safe disposal of liquid wastes. Some of the largest companies in the world rely on underground injection for secure, permanent disposal that has successfully shielded them from third-party liability fordecades. The technology has been proven through wide use to be one of the most efficient and effective methods for handling large quantities of low concentration liquid waste. Typically, these wastes are comprised of about 95% water, with low chemical concentrations.
Often these liquids have already been recycled or treated and are not usable as a resource because they have little product recovery, economic or energy value. Our facility provides a financially competitive solution with low ongoing operation and maintenance cost; a cost-effective alternative to wastewater treatment. Most traditional wastewater treatment plants are constrained by high COD and TOC analytics. We do not have the same constraints and can handle up to 10% solids and 20% oil.
